While everyone is different and valued at WFW, we do look for particular qualifications, skills and traits in our trainees.
Q: What would make me a good fit for your culture?
Approachability and friendliness are what distinguish our firm from others. Given that our trainees will potentially become future partners of the firm, it’s important for us to look for and cultivate those attributes from the outset.
Q: How important is it for a trainee to show initiative?
When the answer to a legal issue is not straightforward, finding the answer can require a willingness to ask questions and think around the subject area, and a resourcefulness to find the information that is relevant to the client. We look for people who can persevere and are resilient.
Q: Will the firm offer me scope to take on real responsibilities – even as a trainee?
We look for trainees who want to step up and take responsibility from the onset, those who aren’t afraid to take initiative and are the first to say “yes” when asked to help.
We want all our trainees to develop an appetite for new and bigger challenges. This will help them on their first overseas secondments and throughout their training contracts. We also encourage you to take on more challenging work as you prepare for qualification.
